MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE CAREER

Monday 9/06/2025 - Tuesday 10/06/2025

BIO Olympiad

Monday 16/06/2025 - Monday 4/08/2025

Registrations are now open for the 2025 New Zealand International Biology Olympiad (NZIBO). The entrance exam is a two-hour, online, multi-choice test based on Level 2 NCEA Biology with a focus on thinking skills. It will be held on 13 August at a time that suits you and your teacher. If the date doesn’t work for you, there are alternative options available. The exam includes fun and thought-provoking questions, some based on current New Zealand research. Registration costs $40. Registration is free for Māori and Pasifika students involved in Pūhoro STEMM Academy, Te Whare Wānanga, Whakapiki Ake, or the FOU Health Science Academy. All students can enter and participate in the tutorial programme, but only New Zealand citizens or permanent residents are eligible for selection to attend the NZIBO training camp or team. Students who have previously been in the NZIBO tutorial programme are automatically accepted again this year but must still register by 6 August.  For more information or to register your interest, please email Mrs Gregory at [email protected].

Auckland HHS Investment Club

Tuesday 17/06/2025 - Monday 30/06/2025

Kia ora!

We hope this email finds you well.

The University of Auckland Investment Club invites any student to participate in their national High School Stock Pitch Competition, in partnership with the University of Auckland Business School!

This is the only opportunity of its kind in New Zealand where students learn how to analyse a company from industry experts, and then put their pitching skills to practice. There is a prize pool of $1,500 up for grabs.

No prior experience is required of students, just a willingness to learn and get involved. You will need to have registered in Craig's HHS Investment Club in order to enter the competition.

Everything that is required will be taught in the online tutorial.

Format:

1. An online tutorial will be run by analysts on the UAIC Investment Committee.

2. Following the tutorial, teams of 2-4 students will be given a “target” company for which they will have one week to research and create an investment thesis presentation. During this week, the teams will have the opportunity to join a call with the management team of the target company who will talk about their business and answer questions.

3. At the end of the week, the teams will be required to submit their investment thesis presentation via email.

4. From these submissions, a number of teams will be selected to compete in an online heats round, in which they will have 10 minutes to present their slides to a panel of University of Auckland Investment Club students, followed by a Q&A.

5. Five teams will then be selected to progress to the finals to compete for a prize pool of $1,500. This will be held on campus at the University of Auckland.

We will help teams from outside of Auckland attend the finals by contributing to transportation and accommodation costs.

Key Dates:

  • Registrations Close - By June 25th - All registrations need to be made through Mr. Turner
  • Further information will be provided post-registration.
