2026 NZ Year 9 Readers Cup - join the team! ?

Do you love to read? Are you in Year 9?

Then we would love to have you join the Year 9 Readers Cup team!

Readers Cup involves a team of 4 or 5 reading six books over April-June, and then attending the North and West Year 9 Readers Cup event held in June at Te Manawa library (by the NorthWest Mall). Readers have to know the books really well! The event consists of the teams answering 10 questions per book, over six rounds. 

It is an exciting event with some great prizes on offer. The winning team gets to represent the North and West Auckland region at the national event held later in the year!

Auckland Writers Festival - Wednesday 13 May

Each year we take 20 students to the Auckland Writers Festival to hear from 4 different amazing writers. This year the School's Programme includes:

Gilbert Enoka (Aotearoa NZ) - Former All Blacks mental-skills coach, Josh Silver (UK)- Award-winning author of dystopian YA fiction and mental-health nurse, Nikita Gill (Ireland/India) - Insta poet and acclaimed author, and Manaia Tuwhare-Hoani (Aotearoa NZ) - Spoken-word poet / Matariki Bennett (AotearoaNZ) - Slam poet and filmmaker.

We travel to the city and back by ferry from Hobsonville Point leaving at 8.15am and returning at 3.45pm to Hobsonville Wharf.

The cost per person is $30 including the ferry.
