Background

Context
Te Akau is located in a small Waikato rural community on the west coast and provides education for tamariki in Years 1 to 8. The school promotes the values of respect, responsibility, resilience, and risk taking.
Te Akau School’s strategic priorities for improving outcomes for learners are:

develop a literacy and numeracy learning progression framework

develop the local curriculum and implement te reo and tikanga Māori
-
implement tasks that meet the different digital technology stages.

ERO and the school are working together to evaluate how effectively the design and implementation of the local curriculum is improving teacher capability and outcomes for learners.
The rationale for selecting this evaluation is to support:

ERO’s role will be to support the school in its evaluation for improvement cycle to improve outcomes for all learners. ERO will support the school in reporting their progress to the community.
