About Gisborne Girls’ High School
Welcome to Gisborne Girls’ High School, an esteemed state-run institution nestled in Te Hapara on Gladstone Road within our beautiful region of Gisborne.
As a coeducational school catering for students from Year 9 through to the end of their secondary education at Year 15, we proudly accommodate approximately 717 young women in pursuit of academic excellence and personal growth. Our diverse student body is enriched by cultural backgrounds with a significant Māori representation accounting for nearly half (46%) alongside European/Pākehā students who make up another substantial portion at 42%. This blend creates an environment where respect, understanding, and the celebration of our unique heritage are deeply ingrained in every aspect of school life.
Under the guidance of Principal Belinda Hannah, Gisborne Girls’ High School has established itself as a place that not only prioritizes knowledge but also values inclusivity. With international students among us, we embrace global perspectives and foster an atmosphere where all cultures are appreciated.
