About TKKM o Nga Uri A Maui
Welcome to TKKM o Nga Uri A Maui, an integral thread in Gisborne’s educational tapestry located at 349 Nelson Road.
As a state composite school deeply rooted within the Māori culture and community of this region, we proudly serve approximately 212 students. Our unique strength lies in our commitment to providing an inclusive learning environment that respects and incorporates traditional values into every aspect of education.
Our school is a beacon for the Māori community, with nearly all (97%) of our student body identifying as Māori. This concentration reflects not only Gisborne’s rich indigenous heritage but also underscores TKKM o Nga Uri A Maui's role in fostering a sense of pride and connection to ancestral roots.
Under the leadership of Principal Jodi Ria-Smith, our school has become more than just an institution; it is a place where students can thrive academically while embracing their cultural identity. As co-educational learners navigate through various year levels together, they are encouraged to uphold shared values such as respect, kindness, and perseverance.
