Background
This Profile Report was written within seven months of the Education Review Office and Tokirima School working in Te Ara Huarau, an improvement evaluation approach used in most English Medium State and State Integrated Schools. Context
Tokirima School is located in a rural environment near Taumarunui, providing education for students in Years 1 to 8.
Tokirima School’s strategic priorities for improving outcomes for learners are:

to grow achievement for all learners with a focus on equity and excellence

to further enhance engagement in learning with parents and whānau alongside the wider school community.

ERO and the school are working together to evaluate how effectively school conditions are strengthening students’ knowledge and engagement in literacy to improve outcomes for all. Further building reciprocal partnerships in learning is an ongoing priority.
The rationale for selecting this evaluation is:

ERO’s role will be to support the school in its evaluation for improvement cycle to improve outcomes for all learners. ERO will support the school in reporting their progress to the community.
