Teacher Only Day Curriculum 1/2
To support teachers and school leaders with upcoming curriculum and assessment changes, the Government has approved four curriculum half-days for each of the 2026 and 2027 school years for all state and state-integrated schools and kura: ✅ These days are for professional learning and planning. ✅ Schools and kura do not need to make up these days and may choose to combine the half days to support their planning needs. ✅ Parents and whānau will receive at least six weeks’ notice before any closure. These curriculum days support the Government’s 2030 education achievement target: aiming for 80% of Year 8 students to be at or above the expected level in reading, writing, and maths. These days are not for general administration or other activities, they are focused on helping schools and kura get ready to teach the new curriculum. Schools will choose when to hold these days and will keep their communities informed. |
