9 IOS Girls to participate (and Y10 IOS Girls to lead)  in the Kōhine Maia Ignite
Festival of Sport.  This inspiring event is taking place on Friday
the 17th of October and is  to try new sports in a fun, inclusive female only setting to hopefully
inspire those participating to take up a new sport or stay active.

Basketball, Cricket, Football, Golf, Kī o rahi,
Pickleball, Touch rugby and Ultimate Frisbee. These codes are all looking
forward to delivering their sport in a fun, inclusive and more spontaneous way.

The event is also designed to foster leadership,
collaboration, and personal growth for students across the region.

3 Day Wananga Health NZ/Te Whatu Ora Nelson

As part of their ongoing desire to increase the number of Māori and Pasifika health workers, Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora Nelson Marlborough are hosting a 3-day wananga (“Te Whātui Oranga”) for Māori and Pasifika students who are interested in the possibility of a health career.  The wananga will take place in Nelson as below. 

Dates:   Nelson - Tues 16th – Thurs 18th September 0900 - 1500

Venue:  Nelson Hospital  - further details to be provided closer to the time

What to expect:  Rangitahi will hear from a number of different health professionals about their roles, pathways into the profession and get the chance to do some hands-on activities that provide insights into the mahi.  We continue to work with our healthcare partners to confirm the timetable, but as an example, last year (in Nelson) we were able to spend time in the radiology department, operating theatre, pathology lab, cardiology and oral health clinics, St John’s/Air Ambulance, amongst others.  In addition, students will receive training and certificate in CPR with our specialist resuscitation nurse educators.

Who should come:   Māori and Pasifika students in year 12 or 13 who have an interest in a health career. Numbers will be limited to a max of 12 students.  Please register your interest with Moira in the Careers Centre asap if you would like to attend.

2-day Learners Drivers Licence Course for Y12/Y13

NMIT Open Day

Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) will be hosting their annual Open Day at the Nelson Campus, on Saturday 13 September and would be delighted for you to join them!

The day will feature engaging programme displays from all our campuses, giving attendees the chance to meet tutors, support staff and industry partners.
