About Glenavy School
Welcome to Glenavy School, nestled in the heart of Waimate on New Zealand’th South Island, where education is celebrated with a diverse cultural tapestry woven into everyday life.
At our co-educational full primary school located at 19 Ruane Street in Glenavy Suburb, we pride ourselves not just as an institution but as a vibrant community. With approximately 119 students from various backgrounds enrolled on roll, the spirit of inclusivity is paramount to us.
The student body at Glenavy School reflects our commitment to diversity and global citizenship with about half being Asian heritage and a significant portion European/Pākehā. Our unique mix also includes students from other ethnicities, all of whom contribute richly to the school's character.
"Education is not just learning what we have been told but thinking for ourselves," says our principal Kate Mansfield who has led us with dedication and vision since her appointment. Under her guidance, Glenavy School continues to foster an environment where every student can thrive academically while embracing their individuality.
As a state school under the Canterbury region's purview, we ensure that all students have access to quality education regardless of socioeconomic status.
