Writers' Group Returns On Thursday!
27 Jul 2026 – 30 Jul 2026Writers’ Group is back this week on Thursday 30 July!
We’re excited to welcome Shilo Kino (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Maniapoto) as our special guest. Shilo is a journalist based in Tāmaki Makaurau and the author of the award-winning young adult novel The Pōrangi Boy (Huia), which won the Young Adult Fiction Award at the 2021 New Zealand Book Awards.
New and returning members are warmly invited to come along, meet this talented writer, hear about her journey to becoming a published author, and gain valuable advice and inspiration for your own writing.
This term, Writers’ Group will also be working with Crescendo Studios to plan, record, and edit podcasts. Come along to learn more and give podcasting a go!

This term, Writers’ Group is teaming up with Crescendo Studios to plan, record, and edit original podcasts. Podcasts are a great way to share ideas, tell stories, build confidence in speaking, and learn real-world media skills.
This week, a special guest from the studio will introduce podcasting and help groups start planning their own episodes. Come along to learn something new, get creative, and give podcasting a go!

This week, we’ll be getting into groups to brainstorm ideas, choose topics, and begin planning and scripting our podcasts in preparation for our upcoming visit to Crescendo Studios, where we will record and produce them.
Whether you’re interested in interviews, storytelling, sport, music, gaming, or discussing topics you’re passionate about, podcasting is a great way to share your voice and ideas.
Come along to collaborate, get creative, and be part of something exciting!
