Course overview

Spanish develops practical communication skills across speaking, listening, reading and writing. Ākonga learn to understand and use Spanish in everyday and familiar contexts while developing confidence in sharing information, ideas and opinions.

Te Reo Māori is designed for students who want to strengthen their ability to communicate in te reo Māori and deepen their understanding of te ao Māori. This combined Level 1 and Level 2 course will support students to develop confidence in listening, speaking, reading and writing at a level appropriate to their previous experience. Students will explore topics connected to identity, whakapapa, whānau, tikanga, local histories and contemporary Māori life. They will take part in conversations, interpret spoken and written texts, and create their own responses for different purposes and audiences.

Level 2 Visual Arts is designed for students who enjoy creativity, experimentation and communicating ideas through visual forms. The course encourages students to develop a personal artistic style while exploring different techniques, materials and approaches to making art.Students will investigate the work of established artists, generate and refine their own ideas, and produce a body of work that demonstrates creativity, technical skill and purposeful decision-making. The course develops confidence in drawing, composition, visual communication, critical reflection and presenting ideas through practical work.
Level 2 Visual Arts provides a strong foundation for Level 3 Visual Arts and future pathways in fine arts, design, architecture, illustration, animation, photography, fashion, advertising, film, digital media and other creative industries.
