About Waitara High School
Welcome to Waitara High School, nestled in the heart of Taranaki on Princess Street within the quaint suburb of Waitara.
As a co-educational state secondary school serving years nine through fifteen with an approximate roll size of around 457 students, our diverse student body reflects both Māori and European/Pakeha heritages. With nearly half (48%) being Māori, we embrace this rich cultural tapestry that strengthens the Waitara community spirit.
Our school is led by Principal Daryl Warburton who brings a wealth of experience and dedication to fostering an inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive. Under his guidance, we continue our commitment to upholding the values that have long been at the core of Waitara High School: respect, integrity, teamwork, persistence, innovation, compassion, cultural understanding and global awareness.
Join us in shaping a generation who are not only academically proficient but also socially conscious citizens. At Waitara High School, we believe education is about more than just grades; it's about preparing students to make meaningful contributions to society while honoring the unique cultural heritage of New Zealand.
