Context
One Tree Hill College, in central Auckland, is a large multicultural school catering for students from years 9 to 13. The school’s vision is centred on the values of aspiration, innovation, respect, responsibility and excellence.
One Tree Hill College’s strategic priorities for improving outcomes for learners are:

ERO and the school are working together to evaluate how the implementation of targeted literacy strategies accelerate student learning and create equitable outcomes for all.
The rationale for selecting this evaluation is:
- achievement data identifies there is scope to enhance learner success in literacy
- support teachers in effectively implementing literacy strategies
- raise student engagement and progress across all learning areas.
The school expects to see increased:
- levels of confidence and engagement in reading and writing
- teachers’ expertise in the teaching of literacy
- equitable and improved outcomes for all learners.

Where to next?
