About James Cook High School
Welcome to James Cook High School, nestled in the heart of Manurewa on Dr Pickering Avenue.
As a vibrant state secondary school serving students from Year 9 through to their final year (Years 12 and 13), we pride ourselves as an inclusive co-educational institution. Our roll size, approximately standing at 1897 spirited young minds, reflects the diverse tapestry of our student body.
Our community is a rich blend where Pacific peoples make up nearly half (46%) and Māori students represent another significant portion with 28%. This diversity forms an integral part of James Cook High School's character, as we celebrate the unique cultures that each student brings to our learning environment.
Under the leadership of Principal Tina Filipo, who has been a guiding force in shaping and maintaining the school’s ethos, students are encouraged not only academically but also socially. Our values center around respect for all cultures as we foster an environment where every student feels valued.
Within our Auckland region's educational landscape, James Cook High School stands out by embracing the cultural diversity of its students and promoting a sense of unity. Our school
