About Pouto School
Welcome to Pouto School, nestled in Te Kopuru on Opuna Road within Northland’s rich cultural tapestry.
At the heart of our school community is a commitment to inclusivity and respect for all cultures. With approximately 12 students from diverse backgrounds, including 69% Māori and 25% European/Pākehā communities, we embrace this diversity as the cornerstone of our educational philosophy.
As a co-educational state school offering full primary education to children in Northland, Pouto School is proudly led by Principal Georgina Milford. Under her guidance, students from years 1 through 6 engage with the curriculum and each other within an environment that values Māori culture as integral.
Pouto's unique setting in Northland provides our young learners a chance to connect deeply with their local community while receiving quality education. Our school is not just about academic achievement; it’s also about nurturing the next generation of thoughtful, engaged citizens who understand and respect where they come from.
