About Opotiki College
Welcome to Opotiki College, an inclusive educational environment nestled in the heart of Opotiki, a vibrant suburb within the culturally rich region of Bay of Plenty. As one of New Zealand's esteemed state secondary schools serving students from Year 9 through to Year 15 (equivalent to grades 9-12), Opotiki College proudly embraces diversity and fosters a coeducational atmosphere where both boys and girls learn together.
With an approximate roll size of 350 students, our school is a close-knit community that thrives on mutual respect, understanding, and shared experiences. As we celebrate the unique cultural heritage within Opotiki's student body—where 80% are Māori or Pacific Islanders—we recognize this as an integral part of who our students are.
Glenn Phipps serves as principal, bringing his passion for education and commitment to nurturing a supportive learning environment. Under the guidance of leaders like Glenn, Opotiki College continues its legacy in providing quality secondary education while honoring local customs and values.
