2026 Aotearoa New Zealand Spelling Bee

Do you love words? Are you good at spelling? Would you like the chance to compete against other students from around Aotearoa?

Spotswood College is taking part in the 2026 Aotearoa New Zealand Spelling Bee. This competition is open to Year 9 and Year 10 students.

There is no cost to enter. Students will receive a word list to help them prepare. Successful spellers may qualify for the regional semi-finals in September, with the national final held in Wellington on 31 October.

The national winner receives the title of 2026 Aotearoa New Zealand Spelling Bee Champion Speller and $5000 towards their academic studies.
