About Opononi Area School
Welcome to Opononi Area School, nestled in the heart of Northland at 263 State Highway 12 within the suburb of Omapere in Kaikohe.
As a vibrant and inclusive co-educational composite school with an approximate roll size of 168 students, we are proud to offer education that respects our diverse community. Our student body is comprised primarily of Māori at 70%, complementing the rich cultural heritage present within Opononi Area School.
Under the leadership of Principal Rosina Wikaira, who brings a wealth of experience and dedication to education in Northland, we are committed to providing an environment where every student can thrive academically while embracing their unique cultural backgrounds.
