About Horeke School
Welcome to Horeke School, an integral thread in the fabric of our Northland region.
Nestled on a picturesque stretch along Horeke Road, within the heartbeat of Okaihau suburb, this State school stands as a testament to community and tradition. As one of Horeke's proud institutions, it serves students from grades 1 through 8 in its co-educational environment.
Principal Darron Tawhai-Gilles, at the helm since September last year, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to guiding our young learners. Under his leadership, Horeke School continues to uphold its core values: respect for self and others, perseverance in learning, integrity in action, inclusivity within diversity, environmental stewardship, community engagement, lifelong curiosity, excellence through effort, cultural pride, family partnership, personal responsibility, kindness towards all living things.
Student Community Make-up: A proudly diverse student body with 86% Māori representation reflects the rich indigenous heritage of Northland. This predominantly Pacific community brings a unique perspective and strengthens our shared commitment to cultural understanding.
