About TKKM o Huiarau
Welcome to TKKM o Huiarau, an educational gem nestled in Ruatahuna within the vibrant Bay of Plenty region.
As a composite school serving students from Year 1 through to Year 8, we pride ourselves on providing quality education tailored for our diverse student body. With approximately 53 young minds under one roof—91% Māori and the rest representing other Pacific communities as well alongside New Zealanders of European descent—we foster a culturally rich learning environment.
Our school is an inclusive co-educational institution, where every child'harmonizes with our shared values: respect, responsibility, and community. These core principles guide us as we navigate the educational journey together in this close-knit setting that encourages personal growth alongside academic achievement.
Leading our school is Principal Lindsay Dunn, who brings a wealth of experience to her role at TKKM o Huiarau. Under her guidance and with the support of dedicated staff members like Assistant Principal Chris Poley—who has been instrumental in shaping this thriving community since 2017—we continue to grow stronger as an educational establishment.
