About Murupara Area School
Welcome to Murupara Area School, nestled in the heart of Murupara within the culturally rich Bay of Plenty region.
As a composite school that proudly embraces diversity and inclusivity, we are committed to providing an education grounded in our unique Māori heritage. Our co-educational environment fosters respect for all genders within the learning community at Murupara Area School.
Our current enrolment stands strong with approximately 164 students, a testament to the trust and support from our local families who recognize us as their preferred educational choice. We are proud of this close-knit student body that represents around 87% Māori, reflecting not only Murupara'in spirit but also New Zealand’s broader cultural landscape.
Under the dedicated leadership of Principal Kura Hingston, we continue to uphold our values and strive for excellence in every aspect. Our school is governed by state authority which ensures that all students have access to quality education regardless of their background or circumstances.
