About Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Whatatutu
Welcome to Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Whatatutu, a state-authorized full primary co-educational Māori immersion school nestled in the heart of Gisborne'ner suburb Whatatutu. With an approximate roll size of 20 students from diverse backgrounds but with a strong representation of our indigenous culture at 91%, we foster a tightly-knit community where Māori values and traditions are celebrated daily.
Under the leadership of Principal Parehuia Eparaima, this unique school on Te Hau Road provides an education that is deeply rooted in our rich cultural heritage. As students progress through Year 1 to 8 levels within a nurturing and supportive environment, they are encouraged to embrace their identity while being equipped with the knowledge necessary for success beyond these halls.
Whatatutu's warm regional ambiance complements our educational approach by offering students an authentic New Zealand experience that extends well outside of school grounds. The surrounding town, a hub within Gisborne itself, provides ample opportunities to engage with the wider community and explore connections between local culture and global perspectives.
At Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Whatatutu, we believe in providing an education
